That Girl

I don’t want to be that girl
You know,

That girl
That girl who holds on
Even with the knowledge that
Its not wise.
That girl that doesn’t know
When its over.
That girl that still hopes for roses
But bleeds when she touches the thorns

Its over, its done
He’s not right for you
I tell myself
Over and over again
But the sound of his name
Makes my heart beat faster
My insides weaken,
turn liquid
My knees buckle and shake
And my palms sweat
My chest constricts
I am undone
In his presence
The feminist in me
Snarls at my weakness
I don’t want to be
But I am that girl.
